Scenic Directions (from the south)
This is a route over secondary roads from Kittery to Bridgton, as follows: After crossing Piscataqua River Bridge into Maine (on I-95) watch for Route 236, follow to South Berwick; connect to Route 4 North. (In S. Sanford, there are fast food spots [and rest rooms!] if you go left for 1 mile.) But retrace your route back to lights and continue on Route 4 to Waterboro; then, left on Route 5 through Limerick and Cornish, to Hiram. GO RIGHT on to Route 117 (this is the worst section of the trip due to windy/bumpy road…) At monument in Denmark, take a right and continue on Route 117 for 2.3 miles. At blinking light, take a left onto Hio Ridge Road and go 5 miles. Watch for Winona Road on left as Hio Ridge Road bears sharply to right. Continue past the Farmhouse and down to the lakeside.
