Hospital &
Doctor:
The Winona Health Center is staffed
by registered nurses, with standing orders from Bridgton Hospital
24 hours a day, seven days a week. In cases where
additional treatment is necessary campers are seen by Craig
M. Smith, D.O. and Jennifer L. Smith, D.O., of North Bridgton
Family Practice or at Bridgton Hospital (ten minutes away from
camp). Central Maine Medical Center (Lewiston) and Maine
Medical Center (Portland) are an hour away for acute cases.
Insurance:
All camper's claims for accident or medical treatment
will be covered by parents' policies. Winona's excess
coverage will cover any claims that surpasses the parents' policy
(up to $3,500 for accidents and $1000 for sicknesses). Preexisting
conditions and medications are not covered by our policy
and are the responsibility of the camper's family.
Please check with your insurance carrier to determine if your
insurance is 'portable' to the State of Maine, or arrange for preauthorization
Health Forms:
These forms are mailed to families in February.
Please arrange for your son's health examination, complete
the history portion and sign the emergency authorization
for treatment. State health regulations and American Camp
Association standards mandate that everyone has a signed
health form on file. Winona must have a complete and signed
health form for each camper before they can participate in
any trips or out of camp competitions. Please inform us if
your son has been exposed to a communicable disease prior to
camp.

Medications:
If medications are being sent to camp, please
ensure that it comes with the proper instructions for use. ALL
medications must be labeled and kept in the Health Center.
Special requests for your son to carry medications may be discussed
with the directors and nurses.
